osCommerce - Affiliate Store
Overview
Internet marketing companies such as Affiliate Window allow their merchants to publish product datafeeds in XML or CSV format.
These datafeeds contain information such as individual products name, description, image, price, stock level & category.
This project began as a 'proof of concept' where a CSV datafeed could be loaded into an online osCommerce store instantly populating it with thousands of products.
Converting osCommerce from an online shopping cart system into an affiliate product catalog presented many challenges. Core code had to be removed and lots of it rewritten in order to provide the required functionality.
Key Features
- Import Datafeed / Product List
- Real Time Price Check With Amazon.co.uk
- Pages Optimised For Search Engines
- Product Referral Links
- Enhanced Banner Management
Online Sites:
The following examples are affiliate marketing sites built upon a customised version of osCommerce. The ecommerce sites themselves do not contain any products. Instead, they provide links to other websites with each link containing a unique referring code allowing for commission based selling.
